Yesterday my phone or blogger wouldn't let me finish my post. I had more things to list, but many escape my mind. I will try again.
- I don't talk on the phone very much at all. Bob, Suzie, Megan and Macey (aunt, uncle and cousins) got Julian a walker with a phone on it, which I've shown J how to use. Now everything is a phone and he makes a ring noise and holds it up to his ear.
- With the phone mimicking, he does 5 little monkeys with me. He calls the doctor and then scolds the monkeys with his pointer finger.
- He sings wheels on the bus with me and is obsessed with all wheels. All toys with wheels and real cars, which he stuck his hands in and got filthy with grease. A friends said he was preparing to be an archaeologist, but Dan said mechanic.
- Speaking of wheels on the bus, I have sung it since he was a wee one and have used the hand motions religiously. I didn't use them a couple of weeks ago and J started doing the wipers swishing motion. So cute!
- Last night we ate tapas at casa Benito which is a bull fighting restaurant. They have many bull heads in there and J was mooing and snorting with pleasure at the massive creatures.
- I really haven't taught J to sign except more and milk. He's been so verbal that I have pushed using the word instead, but really he just points to what he wants. I do need to learn please and thank you so he can learn some manners.
- I know I wrote about him pushing the limits here and how I do feel for him that he's so limited. I have taken the position to not use the word no unless its something dangerous. its a word that I've seen over used in kids. Well, now I use it every 30 minutes it seems. im surprised J hasn't used it to tell me no. Lord, please delay this! I told Dan that I felt I was using it too much, but everything he's doing is dangerous. Dan said he clapped loudly and that got his attention and he stopped. We'll see if it works for me. I'm still carefully choosing my battles.
- That reminds me of the avocado. We were at Kroger and J wanted to hold his "ball" the avocado. At the check out, I asked the lady oif she could being it up without having to give it to her and said that I like to pick and choose my battles. She said that was fine until he's a 21 year old and wants to marry a hussy. Ha ha, oh my, she really said that! I can't control who J marries, but I hope letting him hold an avocado doesn't lead to this :)
- Personal Penguin is still J's favorite song. If he's crying or is restless, I start singing and he does the boom, boom, booms to it. Did I post that video?
Well, this is our last full day in Merida. It'll be sad to say goodbye since I have no idea when I'll ever get to return. Our hosts have been ever so gracious. Time to eat more jamon, tapas, and drink lemoncello (it is made here also!) And bellota.
Forgive the typos. My phone is awesome, but typing long blog posts is not its specialty.
Please pray foe us as we say our goodbyes to friends and then Dan's parents. It will be a hard one since they live in Angola and we don't know when we'll see them next. Also pray for safe travels and grace on the long flight. Most of all, pray that we would be servants to all who we come in contact with on our journey. Praise God for all these amazing blessings that have been better than I could have ever dreamed of!!!!
