14 months

If I don't do it now, I won't get to it.  I'll still have to write about Spain, Portugal and Cincinnati and our goodbyes in Bloomington, but for now I'll try to spit out all the things that Julian is doing.

First of all our flight to New Zealand was GREAT!!!  We went from Indy to Houston to LA to Auckland to Dunedin.  The flight from Houston to LA was the worst out of any in his little lifetime because his nose was stuffy.  He refused to nurse or take the pacifier and I couldn't figure it out, but then realized he couldn't breathe while using the pacifier, so he cried.  Maybe his ears hurt since he couldn't suck.  The 13 hours flight was amazing though.  He had a bassinet and in the morning he hammed it up on his "stage".

We are now in a hotel until July 1st and we just bought a car today.  A Daihatsu Sirion 2012...red.  We're pretty excited about it though it wasn't a fun experience to car shop.  Now to find a place to live.  Oh...and Dan is telling everyone that he got me the car for our 10 year anniversary today (yup...10 years!) instead of a diamond ring...ha ha.  I love that guy!

Ok, back to Julian since it is ALL about him!

  • He loves animals and can now do many more animal noises.  The horse is good, but he perfected the sheep and chicken in Portugal since he saw them across the street everyday.
  • He say "no" now.  If I tell him no to keep him safe, he points at the object and says, "no, no , no!"  ha ha.  It's so cute and frustrating at times.
  • He is throwing a million tantrums a day and arches his back so violently.
  • He will repeat anything that I ask him to say.  It is AMAZING!!!  I love it.
  • Today I was singing "it's raining, it's pouring.....he went to bed and bumped his head..." and I look back and Julian is patting his head.  He is comprehending so many words.
  • I realized that he knows more words than just the words that I've "taught" him.  I realized I didn't teach him what a door was, so I asked him, "Julian, where is the door?" and he pointed at it.  Kids are great!
  • He has 3 more teeth.  Right before our trip here he was really sick and I wondered if I should take him to the doctor.  I hate going to the doctor and we had cobra insurance (bad excuse not to take your kid in) but I really wondered if he was teething...drooling, chomping on his hand, fever...and it proved to be since he cut 3 more teeth and was better.
  • He is obsessed with music and musical instruments.  Loves playing piano and singing.
  • I realized that he picked up Justin Beiber's "Baby baby" song because we used to sing it to him all the time.  Now J sings, "Baby, baby baby. baaaaa"
  • He can ride a tryke from the Hotel owners.
  • He likes his stroller as long as it's moving
  • He loves cheese and ham (salty stuff) and will eat veggies over fruit (he's just like his mama).
  • He take a morning and afternoon nap still
  • He is going to bed at 7ish here and waking at 5am...we're all off kilter from jet lag.
  • He still doesn't like to drink much milk, but seems to like NZ milk better than the USA.
  • Loves his books and I only brought 2 so I'll have to take him to the library soon.
  • Refuses to hold my hand so I have to pick him up in dangerous places.
  • Is trying to color, but not really getting it.  He loves to hold crayons....ughh.
  • Loves cars and making car noises.
  • In Bloomington he kept pointing to the sky and saying, "moon".  I kept saying, "no, that's a cloud".  Then I look way up and there was the moon.  I apologized to my little guy and was so excited at how brilliant he is.  Kids are really amazing!
  • J demands and LOVES all the attention no matter where we are.  He is nosey and waves hi to everyone.  He is the sweetest little boy and I'm so in love with him.  Dan is the same.
Well, I feel there is so much more that he's doing...it's so crazy how time is flying by.  Hopefully I can write a brief note on our previous travels but for now, it's 8pm and I'm exhausted.  Happy Anniversary to my husband....10 precious years and quite the adventures we've had!
