Christmas and New Years 2014

Wow, I'm so far behind in posting that I'll just give the fun details.  Our friends arrived on Christmas Eve night after camping on the north island for over a week.  Julian woke up on Christmas and we got him excited to open presents.  There are lots of videos of him opening presents...spoiled boy!  It was so much fun this year.  He also sang happy birthday to Jesus as we were talking about it being Jesus' birthday...it was so cute, but I did not get it on video.

I sent these to my mom, but they may not be that interesting to the general public.

This one is with his friend who's the same age and is quite cute!

Camping:
We took off on Boxing Day (Dec 26th holiday) and it was pouring rain.  It was the day we saw lots of waterfalls and it was absolutely beautiful.  Our camp site was on the neck of a peninsula where there were suppose to be dolphins in the bay and penguins in the ocean.  It was so cold and we only saw one penguin.  Now we're up to a total of seeing 2 penguins in our 6 months here.  Not such a good tally.

The rest of the time was great.  We had beautiful weather on our drives and for camping.  Queenstown was a mad house.  It's the extreme sports capital of the world...where bungee jumping was invented.  We didn't do any extreme sports, but we had an amazing time.

We left on New Years Eve day to get back for a fancy party at my friend's house and we enjoyed that night as well.  Julian and his girlfriend Mia (in the video posted above) had a baby sitter and were perfect while the adults stayed up till 3am!  It took us a few days to recover despite me not drinking any alcohol.

J has settled into his routine at home which was much better.  He'd go to bed at 9:30 or 10 because it was so bright in the tent, but he'd sleep later while as here he sleeps at 7 and is up at 5 every morning.  I'm hoping to break this while Dan is gone, but those noisy, summer birds...I don't know.

Hopefully you can see my facebook photos since those are better than me writing about our adventures of mountains, lakes, sounds, waterfalls, beauty, etc....I'm so thankful it's summer, though I wouldn't complain if it got into the 70s more often :)
