So, it took weeks to find a flexible home based educator (babysitter) who could work with my rotating shifts, allow for 6:30 am drop offs, take and pick up Julian from preschool, etc. I found her and she is lovely. The boys really like her too.
The day before Miles' birthday, I made cupcakes and just invited the neighbors who were around. We ran into church friends who have two rowdy boys and another friend who has boys around J and M's ages, so our house was full of boys! I worked on Miles' birthday, but we did a smash cup cake that afternoon. Julian enjoyed blowing out his candle.
Miles is an amazing kid. Separation anxiety is just setting in, so it was perfect to get a babysitter while he is still pretty cruisy. I'll just list his tricks as my head is alway too unorganized to write properly.
- He doesn't sleep well at night. He's so easy during the day, but I long for rest. After two weeks of fighting him and him not wanting to do anything but cry, we took him to the doctor. No fever (I just thought he was teething) but he had double ear infection and a red throat. Poor dude slept amazing the night after one dose of antibiotics. Poor wee lad was in a lot of pain before.
- He is speed crawling on his hands and knees. He knows what he isn't suppose to go after and hears me coming (or Julian not wanting him to get into his toys) and Miles B-lines for that object. It's hilarious.
- He has a huge, cheesy smile. He squints his eyes and smiles big.
- he says "uh oh". Throwing food on the floor is so annoying, but he's so cute.
- he says animal noises (farm animals, dinosaurs), "dog", "Ju" (Julian), "mama", "daaa da", "Ruby" (babysitters daughter).
- He gives the strongest hugs and you feel like the most important person in the world. I love love love his hugs!
- He's still nursing, but it's been interesting to see the fluctuation in feeds with me working full time and not pumping.
- He plays with his little toy farm and all the animals.
- He loves his fisher price dog, train that moves and anything with buttons. He'd press buttons all day.
- he's our engineer. He just loves to figure out how things work.
- he's pulling up to get at things, to get his brother or me, or see the dogs outside.
- HE LOVES DOGS!!! This is an understatement.
- He loves music and dances with any beat, even if I start singing or tapping my hands.
- he folds in half...I have no idea why.
- He smashes his head on my face (I'm surprised my nose hasn't been broken). It makes me very upset, but he does it when I'm holding him almost asleep and he's fighting sleep.
- he loves to put pegs (clothes pins) into the laundry basket holes, dump the laundry basket and start over.
- He likes to walk while holding hands and giggles while he's doing it.
- He loves to swing.
- He loves peek-a-boo
- Eats a TON of solids.
I guess I need to go to bed. I'm so proud of this boy who smiles all the time. He's such a joy. He wants to wrestle and play with Julian. The cuddles and love that he brings to our family is so precious. I am so so so tired, but he is worth it all. I can't wait to see who he turns into. I'm anticipating this next year. One year old is one of my favs.
