STTN!!!!!!

WE DID IT!!!  JULIAN IS SLEEPING THROUGH THE NIGHT!!!!

I was about to lose it.  It was cold and cloudy and Julian was nursing 3 times a night.  He was in our bed most of the night just screaming every hour and sometimes every 20-30 min.  It was horrible.  He was really sick.  He playmate actually ended up in the hospital with what they thought was pneumonia, but it was croup.  I think J had it too, but by the time I took him to the doctor, he was much better (see...I wait too long).

Anyway, I was losing it!  Literally, I thought I would have to find someone to take him because it was so bad and I was so sleep deprived.  I told Dan we needed to come up with a plan to get him into his own room.  He wasn't excited about planning, but I went to a small group for my church and Julian cried for over 30 minutes and wouldn't let Dan console him.  Dan agreed it was time, but we don't have our stuff.

Our shipment has been pushed back to the end of August now and with customs we probably won't get our stuff until September.  Anyway, we were going to wait for his crib and then do it all...night weaning and some sort of cry-it-out method (probably something like Ferber).  I couldn't wait.  Our friend is letting us borrow a pack n play.  Before the first night I played with Julian in his new room.  It is already decorated from the landlord in a train with ducks...which he loves!  I would put him in the PNP and then take him out.

Night 1: I told Julian all day he'd be sleeping his room.  I did his routine, nursed him to sleep, put him in his PNP and he only woke up three times that night, but cried for 20 seconds at most!

Night 2: He was the same.

Night 3: He woke up when I put him down.  I gave him his blue teddy bear and blankey and said, "Here's blue bear and blankey.  I love you.  Now it's time for sleepies."  He cried.  Then he screamed when I shut his door.  Then 10 seconds or less, he stopped crying and went to sleep.  He slept (without waking) for over 12 hours!!!!  It was amazing!

Night 4: He woke up again when I put him down.  He whimpered and then went right to sleep. He cried a few times, but I don't think he could find his pacifier.

Today: I've been on the verge of a migraine and nauseous all day.  I thought I would have to call Dan.  I took meds, drank more coffee, and nursed Julian as much as I could.  I knew it was my hormones.  Yesterday he only nursed 3 times and he used to be 4 times during the day (unless we were busy) and 3 at night.  My body is being put through the ringer.  I've heard horror stories of the weaning process, but don't want to nurse him at night!

Well, onto world problems!  Actually, off to study for my english exams.  They are on the 24th and I am quite nervous about them.  At least I'm getting sleep!!!  Julian is too (and Dan)!!!  We are much happier!

If you're wondering why I waited, I wanted to make sure he was nursing when we moved.  It was a much easier plane ride with nursing and anytime he wanted comfort I could provide that.  I wouldn't change anything with our situation, but if we were in one place and not moving across the world, I would have done things differently starting at 7 or 8 months...I think.  Hind sight is 20/20 :)
