Pediatricians and sick again

Preface:

I have never liked medical doctors.  When I was 4ish (from what I can remember...and it seems vivid in my mind), my pediatrician walked over to me and started to take my bib overalls off.  I FREAKED out!  I was not having it.  I'm pretty sure he did the rest of the exam with me in my mom's arms and with all my clothes on.

I used to get chronic ear infections as a kid and had to see the doctor all the time.  I never understood why I had to get completely undressed for such exams.  Being a very private person, it made me question medicine at an early age.

Ironically I go into medicine and see smart people who have no clue what they're doing.  Experience is the winner here, so IF I have to go to the doctor (or take my son), I want the person to know what they're talking about.  Doctors are not gods, they are regular people who had a fortunate privilege? to go to med school....  OK enough of that rant.  Well...all that to say is that I have to be pretty bad to go in and judge me all you want, Julian does too.  I knew I wouldn't be the mom who called the doctor for every little fever...but...

2 Weeks ago:
J had high fevers for 2 days, so we went in because we had both been sick for a long time.  He was on antibiotics for tonsillitis and ear infection.  All three of us eventually got better.  2 of J's molars have emerged also.

Today:
When J was eating lunch, his lips were blue but he wasn't in any respiratory distress.  I assumed he was cold since our house is cold.  A few hours later I noticed he had a fever and it was 101.7 axillary.  We gave him tylenol, he's asleep in my arms, and I'm not thinking about taking him in because the internet is a great resource that said there were no problems.  Now, if the fever doesn't break and continues, I'm going to take him in, but I just think we picked up a nasty virus.  Dan had 103+ temp for 3 days and he finally was good.  I hope J doesn't get that, but I do wonder how much his teeth are playing into this.  Molars are huge and there is such conflicting information about teething symptoms.

When J was a baby:
He never had fevers so I didn't have to be that mom who called all the time, but we sure did about his skin.  So, I am that mom who calls...just on my terms ;)
