Julian's cheek is better but not healed. There is a large flap there and it's sore when it's touched, but otherwise he doesn't complain.
He doesn't like hugs or cuddles anymore. He never touches our skin. I have to coerce him to give me a cuddle and my new thing is to never let go of a hug until he lets go. He's usually asking me to let him go. *sniff* Where did my baby go? It was like the pacifier left and all cuddles went with it.
We made a paper chain to count down to his birthday and his first day of preschool. NZ has 20 hours free of preschool/care for kids 3-5 years of age. I can't believe that is happening in a few weeks!
He's toilet trained (except refusing to poop on the toilet), but I don't have to ask him if he needs to go and I'm so glad I waited till he was ready. I really thought he'd train earlier than this, but all my friends told me to wait until he was ready and there are hardly any accidents. I know that there can be regression and I'm prepared for that, but I'm happy that it's going well. One thing is that I don't know how to convince him to poop on the toilet. I have offered every bribery and he'll tell me that tomorrow he'll do it. ha ha. I don't want to pressure him, so we're just going with it so far.
The kid is so clever and cute. I really wish I wrote everything he says in the day.
Here are some Julianisms:
Everything is "pretty good".
"Thanks" instead of thank you just sounds so grown up in a strange way.
"That's a pretty good idea"
"This sounds like...(a tree, the color blue, etc.)" ha ha
Everything is a mix of a guitar, horn, gun, and arrow. He's a rockstar/gangster already. I have given up disciplining him for pointing something at me, or our whole day would be a mess. He really needs to go to preschool and get some time away from me because he has a lot of aggression towards me at times. "Mommy, I'm going to arrow you." "Mommy, I'm going to shoot you with my...gun" (he has a million different kinds of guns that he builds from legos, marble racing game or sticks). We talk about his heart and if he feels angry, but he says that all is well and that he'll shoot targets. Stink butt.
He is really into playing with Miles and M loves it! It is so cute and I need to take more pictures. J is very gentle and loving and I so appreciate their relationship. I hope it blossoms to best friends, but I know you can't force these things.
