Skin

Julian definitely got his father's skin.  He has been sensitive since birth, but thankfully we planned for this.  I made sure to have the right laundry soap and didn't use drier sheets.  Julian got cradle cap (seborrheic dermatitis) right away and then baby acne hit hard.  Thankfully the acne cleared up, but in it's place he got eczema.  They say these things hurt parents more than the baby, but he was miserable.  He pulled at his hair and scratched his face and head a lot.  Sometimes I had to put mittens on him so he wouldn't scratch himself bloody (which he has multiple times), though I hated covering his hands.

The eczema was on both cheeks, shoulders, chest, and inner elbows.  The doctor told me to bath him and use lotion.  He said not to use hydrocortisone cream yet.  I'm a fan of Eucerin since I used it with my burn patients.  It just wasn't clearing up and he had two round patches on his chest for a month that looked like ring worm, so I decided to go see the doctor.

It wasn't our normal doctor, but she was nice.  She talked about how alert and attentive Julian is.  She then said she didn't think it was ring worm and to use cetaphil and hydrocortisone cream.  She also said to use dandruff shampoo.  After the first day his face is almost completely healed and the spots on his chest aren't red any more!  Yay!  His head stinks though from the head and shoulders shampoo and his cradle cap looks awful, but it has only been two days.

Side note: Julian is 14lb 2 oz.
