7 months

Things have been crazy and I'm getting behind in everything.  Dan's parents were with us for over a week and it was awesome.  Julian really took to them, after a few days, and now misses them.  Thankfully they'll be back for a couple of days in a week before they head to MN.

Julian is 7 months old!  He shared his special day with his Grandpa Osland's 60th birthday and Dan's birthday the following day.  We ate a lot of cake and enjoyed spending time with Dan's parents.

Julian is chomping on EVERYTHING!  The 2nd tooth is about to pop and there is a big hole in that space.  With that, today he started biting me while nursing.  It's awful and I can't take it.  I've read a few things, but he isn't stopping, so I'm not letting him nurse.  I was suppose to work tonight (I'm on call), so there are bottles in the fridge that I'll use.  Uggh!

Tricks/Updates:

  • 1st, this isn't a trick, but Julian steals hearts.  He gathers more attention than anyone I know. People are just drawn to him and he eats it up.
  • Cooing: Julian coos now and it's so sweet.  He still babbles away, but there is this "oooo" and "ahhh" and "ohh" that melts my heart.
  • He used to stare seriously at people until they made him laugh.  He now smiles at everyone. We went to Cincinnati for the weekend and he did AWESOME!  He took to everyone and smiled so much despite being quite tired at times.
  • The separation anxiety seems to be subsiding.  He gets into independent play easily and I can leave the room with him watching me leave.  He does look for me and smiles when I return.  It's not completely gone, but we're making progress!
  • He loves solids, but unfortunately he's allergic to all grains and many fruits and veggies.  We're still plowing through and try to give him something to munch on while we eat, otherwise he cries.  We can now eat as a family and I like that.
  • He breaks out with anything that is not cotton on his skin.  I have a lot of sweaters that have wool in them and his skin breaks out.  Poor guy.  I also can't use shirts that have the metal snaps on the left shoulder.  Too bad it's taken me this long to figure out why his left shoulder has been leaking goo for months.
  • No attempts to crawl or inch anymore, but rolls a lot.  I tried to put toys out of reach, but he gets frustrated pretty quickly.  I seriously don't want to rush this, so I'm not pushing him.
  • No taking steps yet, but still stands strong and can pull himself up while I hold his hands.  He really doesn't have toys or furniture to pull himself up with, but again, I'm not rushing this one either.
  • Reaches out to be held by people and shies away when he doesn't want to be held by someone.  He did this to me when grandma was holding him.  I laughed, but was shocked.
  • He SLEEPS!!! and has a ROUTINE!!!  Well, it was a bit hectic on our routine (the little one that we had) having visitors here, but he did awesome.  Bedtime is not set, but he either wakes up at 1:30 and 5ish (which I want to drop that 5am feed) or if I get a dream feed in at 11pm, he'll only wake up at 3:30ish.  He takes two morning naps and then a nap at 2ish and 4:30ish.  I'm hoping to combine the 4 naps into 2.  He also will go to sleep being put down awake, but my face has to be touching his.  We'll see how long this lasts, but I'm just thankful to be sleeping again...though I know some of you are probably feeling sorry for me that I'm not getting sleep ;)  ha ha.

My baby boy is hardly baby anymore.  I'm so amazed at how fast he is growing and becoming a person.  He arches his back with everything that doesn't go exactly the way he wants it to and smiles and laughs at everything that is good.  I will leave you with some sweet photos.
