He really won't drink my cow's milk. I keep forgetting to leave water out, but now I'm leaving a sippy cup of water in the living space so he can drink as needed. Speaking of...he has been nursing 3 times at night and I just couldn't handle it anymore. We've gone 3 nights without nursing and fighting him. He was refusing the pacifier...chucking it away from him. We'll probably look back at the humor of trying to find pacifiers in the dark in the middle of the night someday. Anyway, we're all tired, but last night was much better, so here's hoping.
We were given port-a-cot (Pack N Play) to use and he sleeps the first 5 or so hours in it without a sound and then when we're all cozied in and asleep, he wakes and screams...wanting to be nursed, but I fight him with the pacifier. When he gets his crib, we will start sleep training and he'll be in his own room. For now we have to find out the plan of heating his room and which room he'll go into. The bigger bedroom is decorated as a nursery while the small room would be cheaper to heat. It gets down to 50 every night in our house and that's with the heat on low. The sleep sacks have been working well and I hope a friend of mine can make me another one or teach me how to sew, because she made a really nice and LONG one for her son.
Other than that, Julian is developing by leaps and bounds. He is a pro at getting off the bed, walking down SMALL steps, holds my hand for safety now (thank you God!), and his vocab is brilliant! He is also all about music...all kinds, but especially if it has drums. He loves to dance, sing, and beat his bucket and say, "boom, boom". He wants me to read books over and over and discovers something new or says the words on the page before I get to them. Amazing!
He LOVES to help me! He is now expected to clean the table and floor after all his meals. It's a mess and I have to really clean it, but he doesn't throw anything on the floor anymore. He hands me clothes pins (pegs here in NZ) to hang the clothes. He LOVES to vacuum...bummer. I don't have an excuse, so we will be bringing out the vacuum at least twice a week. And he just likes to mimic whatever I'm doing. I haven't given him my makeup brushes yet ;)
We have some lovely neighbors and Julian is always looking out the window to see if he can grab a glimpse of Neil and Nova. He loves to wave to them.
He loves seeing family and friends on skype/google hangouts. He prances around and likes to show off for them and blow kisses. Blowing up fist bumps though puts him in stitches. Brylee, Julian's cousins' dog kept him entertained as well. There are some dogs and cats in the neighborhood and J wishes he could play with them.
He finally can say a pig noise! I don't know why the horse and pig took the longest, but now he can say almost any animal noise and their name. I posted this on facebook, "Julian kept pointing to a grey and white bull terrier on the dog page of an animal book. I said that he would never be allowed to own one because Daddy probably thinks it's too ugly. At that moment Julian says, "hee haw"...ha ha! It does sort of look like a donkey."
Favorite food remain to be pasta. He also loves apples, mandarin oranges, bananas, cheese, deli meat, salty over sweet (mama's boy!), and vegetables more than the above listed fruit. We can get blueberries, but boysenberries are cheaper and he likes them, so that is what we get.
