Potty

Why is it so exciting when your kid goes to the bathroom on potty?  I bought a used baby bundle and a little potty came with it.  Julian tried sitting on it but it was so tiny that he did not like it at all and refused to go on it or the big toilet.  He'd protest, "no potty, no toilet" when asked if he'd like to try it.

My friend suggested getting this potty seat with a ladder (which is way cheaper in NZ...weird) and Julian was so excited to help put it together.  He played on it without a diaper for 10-15 minutes, climbing up and down the ladder and then sitting on it pretending to poop.  His pretend "poop" face is hilarious.  I promised myself I wouldn't video him or take any photos, but I wish I could document this cuteness.  Anyway, it was just for fun and there were no results except him not being afraid or not being interested in sitting on it.

We were then eating dinner and he started to go #2 so we asked if he would like to go on his big boy potty and he said yes.  Dan carried him while I got it set up and he went #1 and #2!!!  He didn't know what was going on, but we just kept praising him and telling him how great he did.  I was so excited.  He was pretty excited and wanted to use toilet paper (I made the mistake of telling him he could have toilet paper if he goes potty on the toilet, but it was fine in the end).

I'm definitely not pushing this potty training thing since baby #2 is coming.  It's going to be winter soon (not that it ever gets hot here) and we also have carpet throughout our house (except in the kitchen) so we will not be able to do that "3 day" potty training method that seems to work for so many people.  It's fun to have a tool that he likes to use and a reward system that a friend gave us.
Oh big boy, mama is easily pleased by you!
