| Babycenter.com says he's about 2 lbs 14.5 inches |
27 weeks is here and I'm getting that anxious feeling of wanting to meet our little guy. I've been dreaming a bit about the baby. When I think about the birth it is always during the middle of the night. When I think about when it will be, it is always early, which is not usually the case for first time births.
My weight seems to be jumping up this week. We don't have a digital scale, so I eyeball our scale at different angles and get a 5 lbs difference :) I'm curious about when people gain a lot of weight during their pregnancy. I had a friend tell me she gained a lot the first trimester and I didn't gain any. I'll just have to watch the swelling, which is hard when you're on your feet for a 12 hour shift.
On Monday, 3 nursing school friends from Cincinnati (one lives in Indy now) met me in Greensburg to have a little baby shower. It was so much fun and I feel so blessed at how generous they were! Thank you Megan, Jenna, and Lauren!!! I'll have to post pictures soon.
My crazy January is thankfully coming to an end with a bang! I seriously have not had a day off in January (since Philly) and I'm thankful to be spending my weekend off with Lynsi who is visiting!!! We are going to have a great time exploring Btown, eating, and hanging out together. We've been friends since 3rd grade, so I'm excited for her visit. I'm also excited to shower her the baby kicking!
As for the pregnancy, not much has changed except slight mid back/rib pain. That baby isn't going out very far; he has decided to climb up. My sciatica is doing well as long as I don't work...but I'm still working. If I have to be on my feet continuously without being able to sit down, then I'm in a lot of pain, but otherwise I am great!!! During the next schedule I will only work 2 shifts a week, but I will continue teaching weekly too.
I'm really hoping to have time to read more on natural births and techniques. I'm happy to say we hired our doula and I couldn't be happier!!! We'll start meeting with her soon, plus we have to sign up for our birthing class at the place that teaches natural birthing. I was going to take the hospital's class since it's discounted for me, but I heard it was all about epidurals and C-sections (which could happen). Having a midwife and doula decreases your risk of C-sections by a large percent, and so that more expensive class will be more worthwhile to me.
I've been reading out loud to baby a lot, but purposefully I've been reading proverbs. I sort of chuckle that I'm already telling him to avoid the woman of the night, but it's good advice. ;) When I was on my road trip to Greensburg he got to hear me singing my lungs out to Lady Gaga and Katy Perry. He danced, or was trying to tell me to be quiet. He's a great little guy that loves to play foot games with me and I am loving him more each day.
Names for Brutus might be progressing, but I'm not sure if we're up to sharing yet.
