leather, kids, formula...

Dan and I are quite frugal (as you know from previous posts about all my Craigslist purchases).  As of this past weekend, we paid off our last student loan and are 100% debt free (monetary-wise).  Side note: we have so many friends and family that we will forever be indebted to.  Anyway, we are so happy to have gotten here and it's a relief now that I'm not working much (as a nurse) these days.

In 2011 we decided we wanted to buy a couch (brand new!) for our new place in Bloomington.  We decided to purchase it in Cincinnati and then have our movers move it to our new place.  Dan insisted that we get leather because it's 1) awesome, 2) durable, 3) the list goes on.  I was not excited about leather.  I don't like to stick to it in the summer and I think it's cold in the winter.  Well, who won?

Dan convinced me that we needed to get REAL leather, not the bonded stuff, so we made the 2nd largest purchase of our married life, the first was our car, and bought a leather couch that reclines.  I found that it is actually warm in the winter and I can always put a blanket down to cut the first chill.  But the thing that sealed the deal with knowing it was a good purchase happened last night.

We were invited to Oliver Winery by friends who work there and get a 50% discount.  I wanted to have some wine, so I brought formula to give to Julian.  He drank 5.5 oz and tolerated it well.  After a few hours we came home and he started to vomit and all of a sudden it was like the exorcist.  He puked all over Dan and all over the couch.  I was able to clean the couch really well and then Dan re-oiled it today.  I cannot imagine if it was cloth.  It smelled so terrible.

Formula is not our friend.  Next time I will take the time and thaw some milk.  Poor guy and poor us.  I gagged for the first time changing his diaper this morning.  It was horrible!  Yay for solids this month...  :P
